Demo with Marcus Finch - Harbour Scenes - Mixed Media

Marcus also writes this about this demo, "As I use some techniques that involve gluing time frames that are not practical for workshops, I intend to have a prepared piece I can demonstrate finishing effects on these mixed media pieces. Marcus is our president and has a wealth of artistic experience evidenced by his journey described here:- In West Sussex where I grew up with the South Downs on one side and the English Channel on the other. This gave me an appreciation of panoramic views and atmospheric seascapes. My journey as an artist has taken me through various media, finding a love for clay and specializing in ceramics (during my Foundation Year at West Sussex College of Art and Design, and then Exeter for my Fine Art BA) where a simplification of imagery in my chosen subject of landscape was necessary due to my working methods with the media. After achieving a BA (Hons) in Fine Art Ceramics, (back in the real world of initially having no kiln or workshop access) I began to develop my painting skills which resulted in a period of more complex landscapes which were in the traditional/realist genre. These provided a source of income alongside a necessary “day job” until the point where I could get back to ceramics. This line of work I have kept for my own private practice. I started teaching painting and drawing in 2001 mostly in the traditional formats of watercolour, gouache, pastels, oils and acrylics. He has exhibited as a member of the Adur Art Collective, participated in the Worthing Open Houses and shows in Brighton. He is President of the Downland Art Society based at Walberton near Arundel in West Sussex.
