Mike Rome

Mike is a Worthing artist.

He is married and has two sons.

He excelled in art at school and hoped to go on to Art College. However, financial circumstances led him to leave school at 16, and after completing an engineering apprenticeship, he became a design & detail draughtsman creating technical drawings for brands such as Kenwood, Parker Pen and Action Man. He made a career change when in his mid-twenties, and moved to the financial services sector, where he remained for a number of years before
returning to creative work as a graphic designer in 1997.

In 2005, he decided to concentrate on his art, launched his own website and became a self-employed artist.

Mike has been drawing and painting for over 40 years.

He paints using oils in a predominantly representational style in his own name, but also paints a range of brushed out oil abstracts “as a release from the detailed work” using the alias Joey Romero.

He exhibits and sells regularly.

Mike is also a member of the Bognor Regis Art Society.
