Laura Quiggan

At school ‘Art’ was Laura’s strongest subject. She took and passed her A Level Art a year early and was accepted into the West Sussex College of Art and Design, where she studied ‘Theatre Crafts’ for four years.

Laura left college with two good diplomas, but post ‘miner’s strike’ Britain could offer few relevant jobs. Laura went travelling for a while, got a ‘regular’ job at The Body Shop head offices and also took on a mortgage.

In the ensuing years, life seemed to get in the way; she eventually moved to London to work on a weekly lifestyle paper, but did more playing than painting!

A career change to a publishing company in Arundel as a magazine editor/designer saw her learn new skills on computer using InDesign and here she has stayed.

However, when her father died of cancer in the summer of 2008, Laura returned to painting in her free time with the ambition of selling a picture by the end of 2009.
So far, she has sold four, and is thoroughly enjoying her rekindled passion. She works mainly in oil or acrylic on canvas, but also in charcoal, soft pencils/pastels and pen and ink. These days she paints and draws at every opportunity.
